April turns 4

The days can be long but the years are short.

4 already. Wow. Couldn’t be more proud of this gorgeous girl.   I love everyday with her.   Even the hard ones.  She is so funny and so caring.   Thank you for choosing me to be your mummy.  Love you to the moon and back.

P.s. My blackboard idea has been previously blogged about but you can get the idea from the photos x

Birthday party day

April turned four on the 30th October.  We decided this year we would do a birthday party for her, we have previously had them in the house but this year we thought we would go all out and have a proper party.  I think 4 is the best age, for April anyway, as she knew what it was all about, knew what fun was to be had and wasn’t too overwhelmed.

Me however.  Ahhhhhh I had lists coming out of my ears.   I organised entertainers who did a disco and party games but I still felt there was a lot to do.  I am a bit of a prefectionsist, or I try to be, so I always felt there was something I had forgot.   It was great fun coming up with little ideas and fun party prizes and party bags.

April had a blast, all the kids did.   Was all worth it seeing the smile on their faces.  Even better when she got Olaf to join the party.  Well done me.  I deserved my glass of wine when it was all over

Bake bake cake

Remind me next year that I just need to buy a cake, go to shop and let April pick a cake from the supermarket.  Soooooo much easier.   After all do kids really bother if it’s homemade. Do they care how it actually tastes.  April doesn’t even eat cake but there I am with a recipe which has 10 eggs in it.   What was I thinking !

Youtube open for my lesson on buttercream and off I went .  The results, gladly, was a lovely cake. And a very messy kitchen, icing that got everywhere , 6 hours gone from my day as well as ¬£30. Again.  Remind me next year to buy a cake.   I was however very very impressed by myself lol.

Nothing ever goes as you plan

Just a short wee post.  This weekend I had it full of lots of activities and non stop fun but. …..   best laid plans never happen.   I woke up at around 2:30 with a head cold.   Seriously I’m too busy so please go away …. just in case you think that worked.  It didn’t .  I fell asleep again around 4 and my gorgeous girl woke me at 8.  I still had the head cold .

Well had to change a few things but in the end it was still a good day.  We got baking the cakes for tomorrow and had fun doing that.

The pumpkins didn’t get done and the pumpkin patch/farm didn’t get visited. However we will still have fun making pumpkin faces on Monday.  Maybe even Sunday night on her birthday .  Moral of my blog.  Have to go with the flow ūüėā

October

I love October.  It’s my little princess’s birthday, which I just adore planning and organising. Halloween and gorgeous autumn days.

April turns 4 this year (cannot believe she is 4) and this year she is fully aware of birthdays and the fun of it all. Last year when she was 2 turning 3 she wasn’t sure about it all and very overwhelmed so this year is exciting.  Every year they are at a different stage and birthdays and christmases are new again

So this weekend is full full full.  Friday we are carving pumpkins , Birthday party on Saturday (first proper party) Sunday is birthday and she is getting a bunny rabbit and Monday is Halloween.   So much fun to be had in one weekend.  I can’t wait.  Wish me luck lol

Family safari adventure

Best laid plans and all that….. I bought tickets to use over the summer for a lovely day out to safari park zoo near us.  Plans of sunny day, shorts and t-shirt, BBQ and full day lazing about there.  Summer came and went and I had to use them or lose them.  This weekend was it.

Rained all day saturday so went for double or nothing for the Sunday.  Bright but cold.   Off we went.  God likes a laugh too I think and we parked the car and the rain fell.   Rain never hurt anyone and off we went.  It might not hurt anyone but it’s still cold lol.   We had a good day anyway although a little shorter.   I even managed a hot cuppa tea to keep my hands from turning to ice, while April and daddy went on the boat.

Any day is a memory

A nothing day

There aren’t many ‘lazy days’ when you have a three year old.  As much as I love nothing else than cosy pj days in my home watching films with cosy blankets and chocolates,  a three year old def isn’t good company and it’s the quickest cabin fever experience you will have.

April is my world. I miss her when she sleeps. But the same games over and over and over again (at this age especially) is a tad boring so my lazy days become nothing days. Which is make up with spending hours outside the house doing stuff but nothing too over the top and places where there is less people makes it better lol.

So we had a play date with a friend at a small little cafe.  Even luckier that it had a super tiny soft play and no one else there

Good hour and a half spent .   Next up. Ice cream parlour (who can say no to ice cream ).

Great another hour and a half spent.  We are out , spending time together and not stuck up in house but yet doing very little and hoodie dress code accepted.

Final part of day is going to friends house and letting kids play as I sit chilling on the sofa with my friend.  Not too bad. April had fun (therefore less mum guilt). Total spent was ¬£9. And I feel like I had a pretty chilled out day.  Awesome.

Now where is the wine ūüėė

photo fun

Well I am loving my new camera. ¬†I have always loved taking photos, especially since becoming a mum. ¬†I had thought about getting a DSLR a while back but I will be honest and thought ‘are they any better than a phone camera’ ¬†I knew they were but I also knew that phones were getting better and better at each new update and version.

Nieve Nieve Nieve.  Wow just wow on the quality of the DSLR photos. I love them. I am also learning some editing software via good old YouTube.  So lucky to have many people putting up tutorials to help beginners like myself.

Thanks out there !  I have taken these tonight on my camera but not edited any of them with the new software yet (one is edited (needed to crop only) with snapseed and transferred from phone ) .  Arent they stunning.  Maybe because I had a beautiful little model lol .

New hobby

For my upcoming birthday (30 something) I was super lucky to get a camera.   Got it a little early as I can never wait ha ha.

I love the start of something new.  So exciting and so much to learn.   Keeps me interested and surprised with each new part.

Different from when I grew up I would have had to go to the library and taken out a book to learn anything like this.  Then hoped I understood it.   Now there is  YouTube, yay, and so many online classes and tutorial, you can learn so much.

While waiting for my new toy to be delivered I got online to learn some very basic basic things and as soon as it arrived we were off, well sort of lol

We went to the beach, had an awesome family day and here are some of my first shots.
