Birthday party day

April turned four on the 30th October.  We decided this year we would do a birthday party for her, we have previously had them in the house but this year we thought we would go all out and have a proper party.  I think 4 is the best age, for April anyway, as she knew what it was all about, knew what fun was to be had and wasn’t too overwhelmed.

Me however.  Ahhhhhh I had lists coming out of my ears.   I organised entertainers who did a disco and party games but I still felt there was a lot to do.  I am a bit of a prefectionsist, or I try to be, so I always felt there was something I had forgot.   It was great fun coming up with little ideas and fun party prizes and party bags.

April had a blast, all the kids did.   Was all worth it seeing the smile on their faces.  Even better when she got Olaf to join the party.  Well done me.  I deserved my glass of wine when it was all over

Bake bake cake

Remind me next year that I just need to buy a cake, go to shop and let April pick a cake from the supermarket.  Soooooo much easier.   After all do kids really bother if it’s homemade. Do they care how it actually tastes.  April doesn’t even eat cake but there I am with a recipe which has 10 eggs in it.   What was I thinking !

Youtube open for my lesson on buttercream and off I went .  The results, gladly, was a lovely cake. And a very messy kitchen, icing that got everywhere , 6 hours gone from my day as well as £30. Again.  Remind me next year to buy a cake.   I was however very very impressed by myself lol.

October

I love October.  It’s my little princess’s birthday, which I just adore planning and organising. Halloween and gorgeous autumn days.

April turns 4 this year (cannot believe she is 4) and this year she is fully aware of birthdays and the fun of it all. Last year when she was 2 turning 3 she wasn’t sure about it all and very overwhelmed so this year is exciting.  Every year they are at a different stage and birthdays and christmases are new again

So this weekend is full full full.  Friday we are carving pumpkins , Birthday party on Saturday (first proper party) Sunday is birthday and she is getting a bunny rabbit and Monday is Halloween.   So much fun to be had in one weekend.  I can’t wait.  Wish me luck lol

Nursery party for last day

Well last day of nursery and it all went wrong .

Ever have a picture in your head about how things will go? . I do and it never goes the way I hoped. Gary , my husband, says I am idealistic. I like to think I am positive with a bit of magic lol.   It started with a tantrum because ……. she woke up . Thats my conclusion anyway as not one thing happened before that and my eyes hadnt even opened yet.

she then wouldnt get dressed with out a lot of “get dressed now before we are late” shouted at her .  I was tired before even getting to nursery .

She went in fine but complained about the hat I made as it didnt fit and she didnt like it and she didnt want to wear it . SIGHHHHH

The parents were to go back at 10:30 for a little tea party and when I went in she come running up all smiles . I gave her a bit hug and she then said  I WANT CHOCOLATE ( the chocolate we made)  but I didnt know where anything was as its not MY nursery ha ha . That resulted in tears and the teachers asking “whats wrong April”  it ends up the chocolates were out in the kid room and she was free to get them but ‘couldnt’ with out me . So there I am feeling very uncomfortable wandering around the nursery with the shy crying child (let it be known she is not shy any other time at nursery or at home)  She then ‘demands ‘ crisps which I said no and was starting to get annoyed with the spoilt child in the room, and annoyed it was my child .

She didnt take part in the first half of the games they did and instead just cried.  I now wished I hadnt bothered.

Second half she did take part and I felt like a breakthrough .   The end came and we left with april crying bcause she couldnt find the hat she made. You know the one she hated and wouldnt wear.

Sigh .

I wanted to start a tradition that at the end of every school year she got a balloon but now I was stuck between the tradition not getting started and spoiling an already spoilt child .  We picked up daddy and I ranted to him about my day and then got to the balloon shop for a successful balloon purchase.

Its now half 7 and April is in bed, the balloon is burst and in the bin (child stamped on it)  and mummy is opening some wine.  Dont judge . Tomorrow is a new day . Thankfully

Here are some of the better pictures….hiding the bad parts of the day (pictures are good at that )

Easter Fun Ideas

Easter Fun Ideas
With my little girl being 3 now, easter has become a lot more fun.  I decided to really celebrate easter this year for the first time and start a bit of an easter tradition. Something we haven’t had before but would look forward to each year.
When she woke up the easter bunny had left a basket in her room with an easter T-shirt in it , a bunny teddy and a little easter treat in a bag .
when we went downstairs , the dining room was laid out like a teddy bear/ Toy picnic .  I told my daughter that the easter bunny must have been having a picnic with the toys while we were sleeping. She loved it and we ate our breakfast there.
It was easy to put together thanks to the 99p shop (if in UK) and the dollar stores (if in USA) . I got the following
  • Stickers – which I put on bit of card to stand up as a little display
  • table cover – I just folded this to the size I wanted
  • Shot glasses – these were shaped perfectly to the adult ones to look like mini tumbler glasses
  • paper plates
  • Bunny lights
  • Easter confetti
  • Easter bunting
The shops are always full of great selections at the time
After breakfast (always good to get something other than chocolate to start , might not get away with that every year) we got our easter basket and went egg hunting.  Had to be indoors this year due to the weather but she didn’t mind.  We bought plastic eggs and had lots of different gifts inside them (this was cheap loot items from eBay).  She had a blast and had to play the ‘hunt the eggs’ game many many times during the day .
All items you need would be super cheap and lots of hours of fun.  Let us know of any ideas you do
Hope you like
